Lovely Victorian bar pin with faux garnet. This pin was probably made around 1900, but possibly before. I am not a jeweler, so I always list everything as faux. The pin has an ornate face with engravings, with a large center stone in red. Each end of the pin flares out into 3 sections. There is a fan shape mounting in the center. Everything on the face is engraved with swirls and leaf shapes. Lovely! The pin is gold in color (probably rolled gold as was typical at the time.) The pin is about 2 1/2" long, almost 1/2" at the widest part (fan) and stands about 3/8" tall in the center. (I see that in some of my pictures the center stone looks more purple. It is really more red!)
The clasp is a Victorian "c" style, hinge on one side and a bit of a cage on the clasp side. It is a lovely pin to wear and collect.
