11 Mar 2021 ~ The Red Poppy has become the symbol of Remembrance after the poem "In Flanders Field" was written by Doctor John McCrae in 1915. The poem is dedicated to his dear friend Alexis Helmer and all who died in WWI. Flanders Field is located in the Ypres Salient region of Belgium and is truly a beautiful sight, when in bloom !!
How awesome is that !! I don’t remember if that was something the Parochial school I attended would teach. Eighth grade is mostly a blur, but I do have a few memories. I am looking at 60 years ago !! OMG !! Michelle858
